From Psychometrician to Freelancing: Is it worth it?

I studied BS Psychology in San Beda College Alabang. And last 2019, I took the Board Licensure Examination for Psychologists and Psychometricians, and praise God because I passed the exam. I am now a Licensed Psychometrician.

Last February 29, 2020, I was hired in a company for the position Recruitment Assistant. I had practiced what I learned in my Industrial and Organizational Psychology class, and also in my OJT. I really had fun working and as my first job, I’m really blessed with the salary and the benefits that were given to me. But unfortunately, COVID-19 spread through out the world causing for this pandemic to happen. A lot of people lost their jobs because of retrenchment, and I am one of them. As much as I love to work from my previous company, I have to find another way to earn money.

Then I saw Codezpace Academy. Here I learned on how to to make a website by using Word Press. The academy did not only taught me to make a website, but also encouraged me to have no doubts and to try something new especially with the situation we have right now. A lot of their students after finishing their sessions have found a job online as a freelancer. And their testimonies gave me encourgaement and hope that I can still earn and have a job.

From a Psychometrician to a Freelancer, is it worth it? My answer is yes. But I have to admit that at first I really have doubts about it. But being a Freelancer has so many advantages now. I don’t have to go to work outside, I will handle my own time/schedule, I can be with my family and I can be safe. I praise the Lord that He has taught me another skill, and I know that He is in control of my life. That’s why right now I am happy for this opportunity.
